| Tiu, Ọgọọst 27, 2024 | Notice- Emergency Management Test on Campus 06:00 - 15:00 | Firelands Local Schools will conduct an Emergency Management Test on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, Florence Township Fire Department, Central Lorain County Joint Ambulance District, Lorain County 9-1-1, Lorain County EMA, Erie County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio School Safety Center will assist with the exercise. No students will be involved in the event. Local residents will see an increased amount of first responders in the area of the schools the day of the exercise, however, there will be little to no impact on traffic.Ohio Administrative Code 4501:5-1-01 and Ohio Revised Code 5502.262 require school administrators to prepare and conduct at least one Emergency Management Test each calendar year. The tests rotate on a three-year cycle with year one being a tabletop exercise, year two being a functional exercise, and year three being a full-scale exercise. The exercises include at least one representative from Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS, EMA, and a mental health provider/public health official.The safety and security of our students and staff is the number one priority for Firelands Local Schools. We and the assisting agencies look forward to assessing our combined response to an emergency situation and updating our procedures afterwards if necessary. While these tests may cause some to perform outside of their comfort zone, the lessons learned will likely increase participants’ ability to deal with real world emergencies at home, the grocery store, an entertainment venue, and open-air gathering, or any other location where emergencies occur.Please contact the Central Office at (440) 965-5821 with any questions. | FLSD Campus |

| Tọọ, Septemba 19, 2024 | Connect to a Cause 2024- Firelands Endowment 07:00 - 19:00 | The Firelands Schools Endowment Fund is again partnering with the Community Foundation of Lorain County and its “Connect to a Cause Day”, a 12-hour crowdfunding campaign that will hopefully generate donations to the Endowment Fund.On Thursday, September 19th, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., donors are asked to donate through the Community Foundations website: PeopleWhoCare.org or scan the QR Code below; to help the Firelands Endowment Fund leverage potential additional donations and dollars. Donations can also be made by check as well. A donation form can be found on the Firelands Schools Endowment website. Many thanks to everyone who has contributed in the past. With the continued support of the community the Endowment has been able to award 430 grants totaling over $500,000 to enhance the educational process of the Firelands School District. Past grants have helped students attend class sponsored trips, supplies for the Ag department, the Young Authors Stories program, visiting artists, musicals, S.T.E.M. programing, School Bus Safety programs, to name a few and the Outdoor Classroom at the new high school. Scholarships to 380 deserving students in the amount of $440,750 have also been awarded. All of these made possible by tax-deductible contributions from our community members, alumni and staff which are never spent. Only the interest earned will be available for distribution. Contributions keep working over and over again to improve the educational process of our schools.The Endowment Trustees are hoping that the Firelands community will support this event by making a donation on this date, September 19th. Donating to the Firelands Endowment Fund is the perfect way to help continue the legacy to enhance the lives of those in the Firelands Schools.More information will be available closer to the campaign date.
